Duisburg, July 16, 2020. Due to the pandemic, PCC Integrated Chemistries GmbH must adjust the schedule for the planned ethylene oxide (EO) project, the establishment of which is currently being examined by PCC in Lülsdorf near Cologne, by about 1.5 years. It is now planned to submit the approval applications to the Cologne district government in spring 2022. This was originally planned for late autumn 2020. Regardless of this deferral, Lülsdorf remains the first-choice location for PCC for the planned EO project.

The background to the changed project schedule is, among other things, that the so-called HAZOP study on the EO project could not be carried out as planned last April (HAZOP stands for Hazard and Operability and means a hazard analysis procedure). This study forms the basis of the plant safety concept. Its development with the help of an international team of experts has been significantly delayed due to the worldwide Covid-19 travel restrictions.

PCC always publishes the current project schedule transparently on the project website at: https://www.pcc-luelsdorf.de/the-project/?lang=en
